Carpenter

As a Carpenter in the UAE, you will execute a wide range of woodworking tasks across residential, commercial, and hospitality projects. Your work will span from "rough carpentry"—such as building frameworks, partitions, and rafters—to "finish carpentry," involving the installation of cabinets, decorative moldings, and bespoke furniture. You must be proficient in using both traditional hand tools and modern power machinery to achieve precision in every cut and joint.

You will work closely with site supervisors and architects to interpret technical blueprints and material specifications. The role demands physical stamina, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to adapt to various working environments, including outdoor construction sites and indoor climate-controlled workshops. At all times, you will be expected to maintain a clean workspace and strictly adhere to the UAE’s Occupational Health and Safety (OHSE) regulations.

Key operational areas include:

• Structural framing and shuttering for concrete works
• Custom joinery, including wardrobes, kitchen cabinets, and doors
• Installation of gypsum partitions and decorative wall paneling
• Maintenance and restoration of existing wooden fixtures

Your daily responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Layout & Planning: Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or building plans to determine dimensions and materials required for each project.
• Material Preparation: Measure, mark, and cut wood, plywood, plastic, and other materials accurately using saws, planes, and routers.
• Installation: Build and install building frameworks, including walls, floors, door frames, and window frames, ensuring they are level and secure.
• Joinery Work: Construct and fit high-quality internal fixtures such as cabinets, shelving units, staircases, and bespoke furniture pieces.
• Repair & Maintenance: Inspect wooden structures and fixtures for damage; repair or replace defective sections using appropriate techniques.
• Finishing: Smooth surfaces using sanders and apply paints, stains, or varnishes to protect and beautify finished workpieces.
• Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintaining tools in safe working condition.

We are looking for dedicated professionals who meet the following criteria:

• Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven experience as a carpenter in construction or interior fit-out. Previous experience in the UAE or GCC region is highly preferred.
• Education/Certification: Valid Trade Certificate or Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery from a recognized technical institution (e.g., NITA Grade 1 or 2).
• Technical Skills: Proficient in using a wide range of hand and power tools (circular saws, nail guns, drills). Ability to read and interpret complex architectural drawings.
• Material Knowledge: Strong understanding of different wood types, adhesives, and fasteners, as well as modern materials like MDF and gypsum.
• Physical Stamina: Must be physically fit and capable of lifting heavy materials, standing for long periods, and working at heights or in confined spaces.
• Language Skills: Basic command of spoken English is required to follow site instructions; basic Arabic is an added advantage.
• Documentation: Must possess a valid passport and be eligible for UAE visa processing (including medical and background clearance).
